Pinterest Inspired Vegetable Garden
The biggest challenge I have growing a vegetable garden (besides keeping it watered) is knowing what to do with all the food! For this, as usual here on Hard Hats High Heels, I look to Pinterest. Its easy to get carried away picking seeds in the middle of winter. You’re dreaming of a warm spring sun. You swear this is the year your carbon footprint will get even smaller. And you’re riding on the delusional fumes that you’ll actually make time to tend your garden. As with any new venture, I suggest starting out small and this year I say you should start on Pinterest. There are several scrumptious recipes floating around on Pinterest–and some are looking very appealing to me. So tasty that I’m going to try to grow the vegetables to make these recipes. Their texture was something I couldn’t get past. However, I’ve recently found certain cooking methods alleviate the tongue-abrasive shell giving way to a delicious snack. Butternut Squash with Browned Butter and Thyme I used to eat squash almost … Continue reading
Capturing Bliss
Each night, as I drift off to sleep, I replay the day and am overcome by the moments of pure bliss that sneak in, settling among the routine play of our days. Maybe it’s having children, maybe it’s just being thankful, maybe it’s just life. But I find myself reliving those moments wishing I could desparetly hang on to them. And then poof they’re gone, replaced by more sweet moments. I came across this on Pinterest the other day. And I fell in love. How amazing is this? What a gift to yourself. But then reality hit. One of our facebook followers saved the day. She told us her mom wrote their memories on the family calendar. When she passed, they had years of calendars to look through, cherish and smile. Days and days of bliss captured so simply. So this year, I took our photo calendar that I made as Christmas presents for the grandparents and our family, and I began capturing our memories. Just sweet little one lines like “played a mean game of uno in our jammies” or “made lasagna together”. I hope one day I will have time to sit down and make the daily memory … Continue reading
Have Yourself a Merry Little Teal Christmas
Thursday Hannah and I are showcasing our Christmas decorating style, but I thought I’d relish in a non-traditional style for a moment: TEAL–Hot or Not? via via via Teal is so fresh….so crisp….so light and airy. But what do YOU think? Hot or….not so much? See more on our Pinterest board. I’ve experimented with teal a couple years ago and loved it, however with my green walls, I’m not so sure the color scheme mixed the best. Tune in Thursday to see what concoction I created this year. In the meantime–I’d love to hear–OR SEE–your Christmas style. What’s your color scheme? Do you go modern, natural, or traditional? Have you even picked out your Christmas tree?!? Upload a picture (or three) to our Facebook page.
