A New Year Resolution from Hard Hats High Heels
I love the new year. First of all, you start the year off with a party where you’re expected to wear sparkles and drink bubbly. Pretty much a home run in my book. But beyond that, I love new year resolutions. I live for ways to make things better. Hard Hats High Heels has a new year’s resolutions too. A couple of months ago, we introduced our new tag line “collecting trends so you can set them free.” We live in a busy time. It can be hard to focus and add those little touches that make life richer. At Hard Hats High Heels it is our mission to bring you ways to nurture, nourish and enjoy those small moments in life. So stop on by, take a moment to unwind with your beverage of choice, and we’ll help you create the life you deserve to have. Happy New Year Friends.
Giving Compassion
I’m always looking for meaningful stocking stuffers for my little ones. The Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines has just made this easier for Santa. They came out with gift cards that can be redeemed for your favorite charity! Imagine the conversation you can have with your child about giving to others on Christmas morning. Click here to purchase. A little bonus for businesses? You can get them customized with your brand! What a great employee gift.
Going to the chapel and we’re going to get married…
This week was the 8th anniversary of my wedding to my lovely husband Mike. It is only fitting that this week on Hard Hats High Heels we are going all wedding all week with our friends at Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse. I loved planning my wedding. The flowers, the music, the dress, sigh… The possibilities are endless. That’s why when I found this tool on the Johnny’s website, I thought – why didn’t they have this when I was getting married. It gives you choices to define your wedding style, then provides suggestions on how to achieve that style statement. It has ideas from color schemes to food ideas and flower suggestions. I’m in love with this. Even if you’re not getting married it gives you ideas for style statement for your own home! Check it out. And tune in here tomorrow at 3pm to see our wedding episode! PS – Have you seen the light fixtures at Johnny’s in West Des Moines? I’m in love! I want them in my home. Not your typical hotel fare.
Creating Character and Charm
This week it’s all about charm. And although you may like to grab inspiration from homes like this one, you may not be able to afford that charmer now. And let’s be honest – sometimes charm replaces function. So for practicality, price and modern amenities you may be considering something that lacks a little bit of that charm factor. Drywall was used to create architectural interest in the ceiling. Additionally, the arch adds tons of character and is a relatively inexpensive addition to a drywall project. 2. Unusual materials – Resist the urge to always go mainstream and search for things off the beaten path. Try shopping for accessories at garage sales, estate sales or antique shops. Become friends with your local ReStore so when great or unusual items come in, you’ll be the first they call. 3. Don’t always go high end – At Hard Hats High Heels, we’re … Continue reading
